Credit Card Debt
As many people are finding it harder and harder to manage their debts it is worth noting that there are a large number of organisations willing to offer advice on handling debts. Your bank/building society will gladly advice you on ways to manage your credit cards.
If you ever hope to pay off your credit card debt, you need to pay more than the minimum payment each month. You must also pay on time or a charge will be added onto the total, creating a larger minimum payment for the next month - and a larger charge added to the total again if you miss a second month.
Get a system for credit card debt reduction. You need your own deadline each month for paying bills. There are software programmes that you can purchase that will help you keep track of your financial records. It may be that you hold too many credit cards and might consider a programme of consolidation to reduce the amount of cards that require paying. A 0% balance transfer would also reduce the amount of debt.
Negotiate with credit card companies. It may be that a simple phone call to the credit card company explaining your circumstance will enable you to discuss a lower rate of interest on your current borrowings.
