Clydesdale Bank started business in 1838 with just a head office in Glasgow and one branch in Edinburgh. It now has 230 branches in thge UK although most are situated in Scotland. The Clydesdale like most banks started by offering its services to 19th century traders, industrialists and merchants.

It is now one of the leading Scottish banks and offers a mobile banking service in the more rural parts of Scotland.

In 1987 it was aquired by the National Australia Bank, and has continued to offer its customers both business and personal an array of financial products including current and savings accounts, credit cards, loans, insurance, business finance and mortgages available in its branches or online.

In fact it was Clydesdale Bank who pioneered the Flexible mortgage in the UK in 1994 after the success of such mortgages in Australia and they were the first high street bank in Scotland to offer a Current Account Mortgage.

Through this innovation and customer service the Clydesdale were awarded the prestigious "Best Mortgage Lender Scotland" 2004/2005 award by Your Mortgage Magazine.

It has many other mortgage products available including offset mortgages, its flexible payment mortgage and mortgages especially for First Time Buyers.
