GMAC RFC Mortgages

GMAC RFC offered mortgages in the UK for both residential and buy to let home loans. GMAC RFC packaged its loan books and sold these on. Bradford and Bingley aquired mortgages from them as did Oakwood Homeloans.

Oakwood Homeloans have since sold their mortgage book to Engage Credit who now handle the administration of these mortgages.

GMAC RFC Mortgage History

GMAC was owned by General Motors and it also owned the financial sevices company GMAC Financial Services which was one of the largest finacial services companies in the world.

GMAC RFC was based in Bracknell, Berkshire where they employed over 700 staff. It started trading in the UK in 1998 and at one stage was the 12th largest lender in the UK.

In 2003 it completed £4.8 billion in mortgage loans and won a variety of awards for their products and services including Best Intermediary Lender awarded to them by Your Mortgage magazine.

GMAC RFC Mortgages specialised in providing secured loans and mortgages for the purchase of both residential and buy to let properties, generally for those with poor or adverse credit in the sub prime market. They offered a variety of products with rates dependent on your credit history and deposit required, since GMAC were offering mortgages with low a low LTV.

They provided mortgage finance and bridging loans to a wide variety of customers ranging from adverse credit, Right to Buy, Buy To Let and Self Certification mortgages.

Their loans and mortgages were only available via intermediaries, mortgage and financial advisors.
